Accurate farm and traceability data are critical for businesses to comply with ever-stricter compliance regulations and deliver upon sustainability commitments. At the same time, most smallholders continue to struggle to earn a living income, fueling the deforestation and biodiversity crisis. Reliable field data is needed to drive the transformation toward confronting these challenges.

That’s where Meridia comes in. Since 2015, Meridia offers field data solutions for smallholder supply chains to accelerate the achievement of full traceability in supply chains, enabling living income, and supporting regenerative agriculture, currently in Ghana, Ivory Coast and Indonesia.

The Role

Since 2015, Meridia has developed its own software solution for use by our own field teams for the collection and processing of smallholder field data. Since 2022, Meridia also makes this software available to external parties, such as large agricultural companies to conduct data collection, moving Meridia into the space of “software-as-a-service.” This shift from providing software for internal use (staff) to external use (clients) also requires a new way of providing information and communication to software users. 

To ensure our external software clients have an optimal understanding of the software functionalities and how to use it, we are looking for a Client & User Communications Intern who will assist the Head of Product to explore and set up the framework and content for external communication on our software. 

The focus of this internship will be twofold: 

  • You will organise existing user documentation and develop additional user documentation on the Meridia software, in collaboration with our Tech and Business Development teams. The objective will be to develop a clear, navigable depository of resources for external users of the software. 
  • You will develop modular marketing materials on Meridia software, in collaboration with our Tech and Business Development teams. The objective will be to equip our Business Development team with high-quality marketing material to attract new customers for the Meridia software. 

The Client & User Communications Intern should be able to identify and use multiple sources of information, research frameworks and best practices around client and user communication, and take a leading role in the delivery of content.

By working closely with international teams, the Client & User Communications Intern will gain intercultural and communication working capabilities.

By working on client and user materials, the Client & User Communications Intern gain skills on intuitive communication and user-centric design. 

By working on these projects from start to finish, the Client & User Communications Intern will gain skills on time management, project management and prioritisation. 

All these skills are transferable into other future opportunities and roles. 



  • Secondary research (e.g. identifying and comparing best practises and frameworks for designing user materials)
  • User experience research (e.g. testing software functionalities, sparring with the Tech team)
  • Assisting in the development of frameworks and tools for user documentation and marketing materials 
  • Assisting in the development of the actual communication and informational materials. 


The ideal candidate brings/is

  • Affinity with technology; comfortable working with software
  • Keen analytical skills, attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and anticipate the perspectives and needs of potential clients and users
  • Affinity with agricultural development, agricultural supply chains, and/or smallholder initiatives is a plus
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English, fluency in French is considered a strong asset 
  • Based in or able to work from Amsterdam, The Netherlands
  • Is available to work an average of 4 days a week during a 5-month period
  • Non-EU applicants based in The Netherlands: the candidate has the necessary permits to work in the Netherlands
